What road salt actually does to your car

Salt brine works into rocker panels and wheel wells, accelerates rust on undercarriage components, and etches into unprotected paint and wheel finishes over a single Minnesota winter if it never gets flushed out.

A dedicated salt-flush process, not just a regular wash

A high-foam salt-flush wash and undercarriage rinse are followed by iron decontamination, a deep clean of the wheels and wheel wells, door jamb and sill cleaning, and a salt-resistant sealant application.

FAQ

Salt Removal Detailing questions.

Why is road salt such a problem?
Salt keeps pulling moisture against your paint and metal long after the road dries, which is how rocker panels and undercarriages rust out quietly. Getting it off matters more than any other winter wash step.
Is the undercarriage included?
Yes. The undercarriage flush is the heart of this service, along with wheel wells, rockers, and door jambs where salt packs in.
How often should I do this during winter?
Once a month through salt season keeps buildup from sitting long enough to do damage. After a major thaw is the other smart time, since melting snow releases everything at once.
What is iron decontamination?
Embedded metal particles from brakes and winter grit lodge in your paint and start corroding in place. A dedicated iron remover dissolves them out, which a normal wash can’t do.
Will this stop rust that’s already started?
No, and we won’t pretend it does. It stops the feeding of rust with fresh salt and protects clean metal with sealant, but existing corrosion is a body shop conversation.
